I started making these nets for a couple reasons. I love fly fishing, and I love buying new gear and trying new methods of fishing. some of these methods, like Euro-nymphing and switch and spey rods, require longer rods. I found that the short handled net I was carrying just wasn't cutting it, I needed more reach. So after a trip to some very steep and tree lined streams in NY where I lost 3 big fish due to a lack of reach, I went home and tried to order a longer handled net. Everything was on backorder, so I took matters into my own hands. I have made many projects with bent wood, a canoe, a ukalele, lacrosse sticks. So the process was familiar, and I could design them for my type of fishing, make them strong, and make them pretty. I got a few requests for nets, so I did a limited edition in two sizes. I really like the way these colors look in the water, so this years edition will be this pattern. I'll do a different pattern each year.
