I make lots of pepper mills out of lots of different woods. The burnt wood mills are turned and burned deeply with a torch. They are then wire brushed vigorously and then dyed to expose the beautiful grain. The design of the mill and the raised grain feel very good in your hand. I use a ceramic crush/grind mechanism which is adjustable for a coarse or fine grind. Because they are ceramic, they're great for salt too. Re-filling is a snap, just pop the top off, refill and replace the top. Each mill comes in a box with a starter pack of pepper.
